Pamper Me Pink fundraiser slated for Tuesday

Tuesday marks the 10th anniversary of the Pamper Me Pink event, an annual fundraiser that helps raise money for the Pink Mammography Fund while sharing information throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event will take at the State Theatre, 305 S. Main St., in downtown Culpeper on Oct. 27 from 5 to 8:45 p.m.
Sponsored by Pepperberries and UVa Culpeper Hospital, the mammography fund aims to help the uninsured, under-insured and people who cannot afford mammograms get the care they need.
According to Pamper Me Pink creator Sharon Clark, the mammography fund is “like a safety net for a portion of women and men in our community who need a little extra help when they’re facing one of the most important health decisions of their lives.”
This fund also makes early detection of breast cancer available to more individuals.
Clark said the fund has helped more than 130 people in the Culpeper community.
“We look forward to promoting awareness about it at the event so we can help even more people,” shared Clark.
UVa Culpeper Hospital CEO Greg Napps called Pamper Me Pink a wonderful collaboration between Pepperberries and UVa Culpeper Hospital.
“In its 10th year, we want to reiterate our goal: No one in our local communities should be denied a mammogram due to cost or inability to pay,” said Napps. “We want to assist them in getting the help they need. The Pink Mammography Fund is there for this purpose. And you’ll know how committed I am to this cause when I dye my hair pink for the event. Pamper Me Pink is fun and inspirational. We hope to see you there.”
Although Pamper Me Pink starts at 6:30 p.m., guests are welcome to explore the vendors starting at 5 p.m.
In addition to the wealth of information, certain vendors will provide pampering such as massages, aroma touch hand techniques with oils and hand waxing. And if you want to don a pink strand in your hair, Shear Artistry stylists will be on hand with plenty of color.
Pink Mammography Fund applications are available in the UVa Culpeper Hospital financial counseling office next to the registration desk at the emergency department entrance. Eligible applicants must be: residents of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange or Rappahannock counties and able to provide documented proof of medical need and financial hardship.
