Area businesses step up to keep the State Theatre going in Culpeper

Battlefield Automotive has bestowed a generous gift in the amount of $20,000 to the “Save the State” fundraising campaign. The Culpeper dealership states it wholeheartedly believes in the cultural and economic value of the State Theatre.
“Battlefield Automotive is trying to do everything we possibly can to help the Culpeper Community” said Gary Fay, Battlefield Automotive General Manager.
State Theatre volunteer interim Director of Development Amy Bowling said “The support the campaign has generated from our community is truly inspiring. Battlefield Automotive now has a stake in our future. This is a partnership the Theatre will be grateful for all the days and seasons to come. We want them to be proud of the investment they have made in us.”
Christine Guzman, owner of Bella J Cucina, a restaurant located in Locust Grove has generously agreed to donate 10% of their proceeds from December 18th to December 20th to the State the Theatre. Bella J Cucina takes pride in preparing and serving the finest food made from fresh ingredients in a warm and friendly setting.
Guzman adds, “I grew up in this town and don’t want to see another place close. My children lost their school (St. Lukes) two years ago and don’t want them to lose another place!”
The State Theatre thanks Battlefield Automotive and Bella J Cucina for believing in their cause and supporting the local arts community. Coupled with the support from Shenandoah Garden Spot and other offers in process, Save the State Campaign Manager Steven Barker is confident that by years end they will have the funds to enact a solid business plan to restructure and restart operations in 2016. Barker adds, “We are ready to roll up our sleeves and get the work done so we can be a viable part of the cultural and economic development of this community.”
In the meantime, The State Theatre continues to look forward to more opportunities to collaborate. Partnerships with business and government as well as individual donations and grants available in 2016 will ensure the lights stay on and the future of the State is secure.
